Keidaners visiting Keidan in summer 2019
Our project TILTAI-BRIDGES-בריקן continues its activities in summer. We look forward to Keidaners returning to their roots.
17 July, 2019 – a visit of a group of Keidaners, Pokroiski family. Solly Pokroy, born in Keidan, Elayne and Derek Ossip, Trevor and Anne (née Bank) – Pogroske. An old photo was taken in Keidan maybe in 1930. Those Keidaners from the old photo, Moshe and Rifka, are still here in Keidan. Moshe is in the Home of Memory of Keidan, as he left this world in 1937(his gravestone is A7 in the old Jewish cemetery in Keidan). Rifka could not escape her tragic fate and is among those 2076 Keidaners that on 28 August 1941 were killed in Dauksiai. Preserving Jewish memory we bringing history to life. Mūsų projektas ‘TILTAI-BRIDGES- בריקן’ tęsia veiklą vasarą. 2019 m. liepos 17 d. |

70 years ago my mother and her parents were sent to Siberia. For 10 years...
People in the three Baltic states of Latvia, Estonia and Lithuania will recall one of the region's darkest hours, the Soviet deportation of thousands of ordinary families four years after the end of World War II. 8 500 families (25 500 people) were planned to be deported from Lithuania, however, the numbers were higher than expected. Before 31 March, 8 765 families (28 981 people) were jammed into wagons used for the transportation of animals and sent away. |

Prasmingas ir maloniai saulėtas, rudeniškas penktadienis Kėdainių 'Atžalyno' gimnazijoje: minėdami Lietuvos žydų genocido atminimo dieną skaitėme vardus kėdainiečių, kurie buvo nužudyti Kėdainiuose, o dvi grupės mokinių ir mokytojų tęsė valymo darbus senosiose Kėdainių žydų kapinėse. Prasminga Atminties diena - prisiminti tuos kėdainiečius, kuriuos skiria tik Smilgos upelis.
A meaningful and kindly sunny autumn Friday in Kedainiai Atzalynas Gymnasium: in commemoration of the Lithuanian Genocide Day, while some students were reading the names of Keidaners who were killed 28 August,1941, other two groups of students and educators continued cleaning headstones in the old Kedainiai Jewish Cemetery. A meaningful Memory Day to remember the NAMES of Keidaners, only a small river Smilga divides those two places where we can read those names. |

Reading the book ''Keidan Memorial (Yizkor)Book'' one can feel the past of Keidaners 77years ago, exactly 28 August,
''Rabbi Aaron Galin (the son-in-law of Reb Shlomo Feinsilber, Rabbi of Keidan and chairman of the Rabbinical Association of Lithuania), who was also in Zhirgynas, was among the first batch. Standing at the pit he addressed the Jews. He said that the Jewish people had already experienced a great trials. When he cried that 'the innocent blood of those murdered will not remain silent' the shooting commenced''. Today Keidaners gathered to remeber those who were the part of Keidan for centuries. |
